On Opinions and Vibes, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]!

Dear Reader!

If you've been following my various expressions, you've probably heard me say that we now live in a hybrid of the physical and digital worlds. This means that what was only available offline a few years ago is now available and can be amplified in the online world.

This is a wonderful thing! Technology is a blessing! However, how we use it determines whether we can spread this gift and blessing throughout our interactions or make it a burden for others. "Opinions" is something that is constantly increasing within the technological space. Let me share some thoughts on Opinions and Vibes...

This isn't breaking news, Reader, but have you noticed how almost everyone has an opinion online? And, as Arnold H. Glasow correctly stated, "the fewer the facts, the stronger the opinion." This is frequently fueled by a strong desire to participate in every trend online. FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real thing. But here's the greater issue:

You are not entitled to your opinion. You are entitled to your informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant- Harlan Ellison

The discovery of truth is prevented more effectively, not by the false appearance things present and which mislead into error, not directly by weakness of the reasoning powers, but by preconceived opinion, by prejudice- Arthur Schopenhauer

When an issue arises online, people frequently share their perspective from a place of pain or pleasure. This is a problem because pain and pleasure are often relative to individual experiences. People give advice and pass judgment on others based on their personal history rather than logic and facts.

Too often, we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thoughts- John F. Kennedy.

This is why on one part, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross was right in saying that "the opinion which other people have of you is their problem, not yours."

People often feel confident sharing their opinions online because many others are doing the same. The digital world is an open space, and most of the time, freedom of expression exists. What I'm attempting to convey in today's letter to you, Reader is this; "the fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd.- Bertrand Russell

"Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinions" - Jack Kerouac.

Be sure to be empathetic as you share your opinions online. Think before you share. Imagine if everyone did this!

Until next time- Stay thoughtful...
